Vitor Belfort: I’m in Michael Bisping’s head
At 39 years old, after twenty years as a professional MMA fight, Vitor ‘The Phenom’ Belfort has fought and defeated some of the greatest MMA fighters of all time. He also holds a highlight reel knockout win over current UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping, who he defeated back in 2013 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Tonight on the main card of UFC 204 in Manchester, England. Bisping will look to defend his middleweight championship against Dan Henderson in the main event, while Belfort will look to bounce back from a loss as he faces Gegard Mousasi.
Ahead of the event, Belfort can’t help but think about fighting Bisping for the title if the pair both emerge from Manchester victorious.
He spoke to Fox Sports:
“I bet he’ll be asking for this fight,” Belfort said about Bisping when speaking to FOX Sports. “I think that’s what he wants.
He doesn’t forget me. That guy cannot forget me. I’m in his head.
In addition to a win over Bisping, Belfort also holds a 2-1 record against Dan Henderson. The pair first met under the Pride banner back in 2006, where Henderson picked up a unanimous decision win at Pride 32. It was seven years before the pair met in the cage again. In 2013, the pair stepped into the Octagon in Goiania Brazil in the main event of UFC Fight Night: 32, where Belfort picked up a KO win over Henderson. Just two years later, the pair stepped into the Octagon for a trilogy fight in Sao Paulo, Brazil in the main event of UFC Fight Night: 77. It took just two minutes and 17 seconds for Belfort to finish Henderson as he picked up another KO win over the MMA legend.
After such a lengthy, and impressive, professional career, Belfort spoke about where he’s at in his career:
“I love to compete and of course now that the real money’s in the sport, I’m looking for fight that’s going to be relevant for myself. For business and this is a business as well as a competition,” Belfort said. “I’m looking to have fun and make a lot of money.”
