Wanderlei Silva calls for fight with someone who won’t wrestle him
This past weekend in New York City, Bellator MMA held their first pay-per view event, which was headlined by a highly anticipated middleweight fight between former UFC middleweight title challenger Chael Sonnen, and former Pride FC champion Wanderlei Silva. The fight saw Sonnen win via unanimous decision thanks to his wrestling, which saw Silva have no answer to Sonnen’s repeated takedowns.
With that being said, ‘The Axe Murderer’ dropped Sonnen in the second round with a well placed shot behind the ear that resulted in Sonnen’s legs giving out.
Wednesday afternoon, Silva posted to Instagram about the fight, and his plan to return to the ring sooner rather than later.
“I went through the worst, I put up with the best of him, but he can not take it, my best, the worst that can happen to a fighter standing up, is to be trapped underneath, but the best moment of the fight was mine, I got more Close to victory, with that beautiful crusader on the right, who made him end up on the floor
Best of all, we had the biggest audience in @bellatormma’s history, the presidents of the event are very happy to have hired me because they saw that we have super star numbers, there were many millions of viewers worldwide, thank you very much for the support , This encourages me even more to train, and to go to the next challenge, in real I did not hurt anything in the fight, @mikekogan I’m ready to next! Put me on someone who really has the courage to fight me and do not just want to grab me!”
Silva released another statement earlier in the week, revealing that he planned to work on his takedown defense and JiuJitsu, and then return to the ring.
