EXCLUSIVE | Yoel Romero vows to bring down justice on “false champion” Michael Bisping
Yoel Romero became the UFC’s top middleweight contender at UFC 205 this past November in New York after scoring a brutal flying-knee knockout victory over former division title holder Chris Weidman.
Since that time fans have been patiently awaiting for the UFC to announce a date and fight card where Romero will get his opportunity to challenge current UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping for the title.
However, earlier this week “The Count” and current UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley were caught on video discussing a potential super fight which could possibly take place this upcoming May.
Romero took the time to speak with Chris Taylor on BJPENN.com’s Rapid Fire segment where he shutdown the idea of a Bisping vs. Woodley super fight.
“What I think is it is exactly what it is. It is impossible to tell the sun not to be the sun. Everybody sees what Michael Bisping is doing. It is obvious what is happening. But I can tell you this, that fight with Tyron Woodley is not going to happen. First and foremost there is no objective for the UFC with such a fight. There is nothing to sell to the public with that fight. If there is something that can be sold to the public that the fans would appreciate it is Tyron vs. Thompson part 2. And the other fight that fans would love to see is the man that the most high god has put in place to defeat the false champion, Michael Bisping, is me Yoel Romero.”
He continued:
“Bisping is a false champion. Everybody knows that he lost that fight against Hendo (Dan Henderson). He is a false champion for that reason. He was a champion once, when he beat Rockhold. But he lost his title against Dan Henderson. So because of that now it falls on me for justice to be served. And Yoel Romero will be there with gods blessings to make that event public for the rest of the world.”
