Former UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson is giving up quite a bit of size when he faces off against ONE champion Adriano Moraes. Johnson was traded by the UFC to ONE Championship in October 2018 in exchange for welterweight Ben Askren. Since competing in ONE, Johnson has gone 3-0 and won the promotion’s Flyweight Grand Prix in 2019 to earn a title shot against the ONE Championship flyweight champion Moraes. Unfortunately, 2020 was not a good year for either Johnson or Moraes as both men didn’t fight once due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

ONE championship superstar Demetrious Johnson scoffed at the notion that he has anything left to prove to UFC president Dana White. Johnson returns on Wednesday night in the main event of the ONE on TNT 1 card when he takes on ONE flyweight champion Adriano Moraes. For Johnson, it’s been a successful run so far in ONE as “Mighty Mouse” has won three straight fights since joining the promotion following a trade with the UFC for Ben Askren in October 2018. He may no longer be the UFC flyweight champion and headlining pay-per-view cards inside the Octagon, but Johnson has proven during his run in ONE that he is still a top-notch talent.

After taking off the entire 2020, mostly because the COVID-19 pandemic made booking fights difficult, Johnson is ready to get back into the cage and show the world how dangerous he truly is.

Eddie Alvarez has laughed off claims from Iuri Lapicus that the youngster will “end his career” when they clash at ONE on TNT 1. The two men will meet in a lightweight showdown on April 7 with the winner, more than likely, getting a title shot against Christian Lee – even though Lapicus’ last fight was a defeat at the hands of Lee back in October.

Gordon Ryan signs with ONE Championship

Brazilian jiu-jitsu ace Gordon Ryan has signed a contract with ONE Championship to compete in both submission grappling and MMA. ONE Championship founder and CEO Chatri Sityodtong announced the news on Monday that Ryan has signed with Asia’s leading MMA promotion. According to Sityodtong, Ryan’s contract with ONE will allow him to compete in both submission grappling and in mixed martial arts. On Friday, ONE Championship returned to our screens with the compelling ONE: Fists of Fury 2 card out of the Singapore Indoor Arena. The card was headlined by the ONE Championship debut of former RIZIN and ACB star Amir Aliakbari, who took on undefeated South Korean heavyweight Ji Won Kang. The co-headliner also occurred in the heavyweight debut, where Brazil’s Alexandre Machado took on Russia’s Anatoly Malykhin.

On Friday, ONE Championship returned to our screens with the talent-packed ONE: Fists of Fury card out of the Singapore Indoor Arena. The card was topped by a ONE flyweight kickboxing title fight as the champion Ilias looked Ennahachi to defend his title against Thailand’s Superlek Kiatmoo9. Ennahachi ended up defending his belt with a competitive decision win that will be no doubt be the subject of much debate on social media.

16-year-old Victoria Lee, the younger sister of ONE Championship titleholders Angela and Christian, made a splash in her pro MMA debut on Friday. Victoria made her debut in the opening bout of of the stacked ONE: Fists of Fury card in Singapore, taking on Thailand’s Sunisa Srisen. Srisen entered the ONE Circle with a substantial experience advantage, having assembled a 4-1 record in fights against the likes of Rika Ishige and Stamp Fairtex.
Eddie Alvarez responds after Christian Lee claims to be the best lightweight in the entire world

ONE Championship’s Eddie Alvarez has taken issue with Christian Lee saying he’s the best lightweight in the world. Alvarez is set to return to the cage for the first time since August 2019 when he locks horns with Iuri Lapicus at ONE on TNT 1. A victory over Lapicus, who Lee beat back in October to retain the ONE Lightweight Championship, would take Alvarez to 2-1 with the promotion.
