UFC president Dana White has provided an update on the possibility of a fight between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall. For the longest time now, fans have been demanding answers when it comes to Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall. Both men hold gold in the heavyweight division, and we’ve all been waiting to see whether or not the promotion would actually be able to get this fight made. Ever since this saga began, it’s been clear to see that if there has been one hold-up in this process, it’s been Jon.

Ian Machado Garry believes there’s a path to facing the No. 1 pound-for-pound UFC fighter Islam Makhachev. At the moment, Garry is the No. 7-ranked welterweight, while Makhachev holds the UFC Lightweight Championship. Makhachev has made it clear that his ultimate goal is to win the UFC welterweight gold to become a two-division champion. One holdup is that his teammate Belal Muhammad is the reigning 170-pound titleholder.

Tom Aspinall’s father continues to show frustration over the wait for Jon Jones. Aspinall has made it clear that while he’d like to fight Jones to determine the undisputed UFC Heavyweight Champion, he’s willing to have another fight just to remain active. It appears the UFC is insisting on waiting for Jones, which has upset Aspinall’s camp.

One former UFC veteran remains surprised that a WWE superstar was allowed to compete inside the Octagon. MMA and pro wrestling have been linked throughout the years. Many of the UFC’s top stars have taken inspiration from WWE with special walkouts. We’ve even see a former WWE champion in Brock Lesnar become a UFC heavyweight titleholder. While Lesnar had the amateur wrestling credentials to earn his spot on the UFC roster, one fellow WWE superstar did not.

Joaquin Buckley has given his reaction to Ian Machado Garry’s UFC Kansas City performance. Garry stepped up to meet Carlos Prates when the UFC needed a new main event. Prates was going to take on Geoff Neal at UFC 314, but Neal was pulled due to an injury. Garry outmatched Prates on the feet until the fourth round, where the Fighting Nerds standout was coming alive. Prates even dropped Garry in the fifth round and nearly secured a finish, but it was too late.

Despite enjoying his time at “WrestleMania 41,” don’t expect UFC CEO Dana White to run a stadium show again for the foreseeable future. White was in attendance for WWE’s two-night PLE at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. WWE announced a total attendance of 124,693 across both evenings. White admitted that he was in awe of the atmosphere.

Anthony Smith has explained his issue with one fan following his retirement fight at UFC Kansas City. Smith entered the Octagon for the final time as an active fighter this past Saturday. He went one-on-one with Zhang Mingyang in the co-main event. Mingyang’s elbows sliced the top of Smith’s head. Mingyang followed up with some vicious ground-and-pound to get the first-round TKO finish.

UFC star Carlos Prates has released a short statement in the wake of his defeat to Ian Machado Garry at UFC Kansas City. Last night, Carlos Prates fell short in his attempt to overcome Ian Machado Garry. While he did take the fight on short notice, it seemed as if there was a notable gulf between the two in terms of strategy, game planning and overall execution. With that being said, Carlos did manage to significantly hurt Ian in the fifth and final round – but he wasn’t quite able to get him out of there.

The Octagon returned to Missouri for tonight’s UFC Kansas City event, and four fighters wound up taking home performance bonuses. The highly anticipated welterweight main event proved to be another impressive performance for Ian Machado Garry. ‘The Future’ was able to use his Fight IQ and impressive footwork and striking to get the better of Carlos Prates throughout the majority of the opening four rounds. Then, in the fifth and final frame, ‘The Nightmare’ finally got off some good shots and appeared to be on the verge of scoring a finish. Somehow, Garry survived the late onslaught and went on to emerge victorious on all three of the judges’ scorecards.

Tonight’s UFC Kansas City event was co-headlined by a light heavyweight contest between Anthony Smith and Zhang Mingyang. Smith (38-22 MMA) was competing for the final time this evening in Missouri. ‘Lionheart’ entered his retirement fight with hopes of snapping a two-fight losing skid. The 36-year-old was most previously knocked out by Dominick Reyes at UFC 310, which was preceded by a unanimous decision loss to Roman Dolidze in June of last year.
