On The Ultimate Fighter 28 (TUF) the biggest rivalry on the show is not between coaches as past seasons have shown. Rather, it is between Maurice Greene and Juan Espino. The two went back-and-forth with verbal attacks all season long. Every episode Greene and Espino seemed to be close to fighting each other, whether it be at the gym or at the house. However, it wasn’t always like that according to Greene. As he mentioned during an episode, Espino and him were cool at tryouts. But once they got into the house and were on opposite teams, that is when everything changed.

“Platinum” Mike Perry’s long awaited scrap with Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone didn’t go quite the way he planned. Instead, after grounding the fight in the first frame, Perry was forced to tap out to a Cowboy armbar. While this is of course not the outcome Mike Perry was hoping for, he seems to be treating it as a learning experience. In the day since the fight, the fan favorite welterweight has been busily assessing the setback on his social media channels.

Cynthia Calvillo steps into the cage for the first time since Dec. 2017 when she faces Poliana Botelho this Saturday at UFC Argentina. The 31-year-old has been sidelined due to a suspension for a failed drug test for marijuana use. In a recent interview with Fightful, Cynthia Calvillo said that the Nevada State Athletic Commission, not the United States Anti-Doping Agency, gave her the biggest headache through the whole process.

Swedish light heavyweight contender Alexander Gustafsson is currently gearing up for a December 29, UFC 232-headlining rematch with Jon Jones. The pair first met in the main event of UFC 165, in September of 2013. On that night Jones defended the UFC light heavyweight title with a hard-fought unanimous decision victory, although many onlookers felt Gustafsson should have gotten the nod — and the title.

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones hasn’t been too impressed by surging contender Anthony Smith. Smith, however, has not been afraid to clap back at the former champion at defend himself when necessary. Smith’s latest comments about Jon Jones occurred shortly after the UFC’s 25th anniversary show in Denver, Colorado, where he assured that contrary to the former champ’s recent remarks, he is ready for a title shot.

UFC featherweight standouts The Korean Zombie and Yair Rodriguez went to war in last night’s UFC Fight Night 139 main event in Denver. Chan Sung Jung appeared to have won three of the opening four rounds which had produced twenty-minutes of heart pounding action.

Currently, The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) is in season 28, where heavyweights and women featherweights are competing. The coaches for the season are Kelvin Gastelum and Robert Whittaker. However, one of the more popular people on the show isn’t a coach, rather a competitor, in Maurice Greene. Greene had an unconventional path to MMA. He used to be over 300 pounds and never trained a day of MMA in his life until he decided he wanted to. Since then, Greene lost a lot of weight, and quit his full-time job in hopes of fighting for the UFC. Well, he appears to be close after getting a call to go on TUF.

Donald Cerrone had a tough fight last night against Mike Perry at welterweight. Ultimately, Cerrone prevailed and won the fight by submission in the first round, in which he broke Perry’s arm. However, after the fight, the winningest fighter in UFC history announced he would be moving back down to lightweight. ‘Cowboy’ then proceeded to callout current 155-pound champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

On Saturday night, in the main event of the UFC’s 25th anniversary show in Denver, Colorado, fan favorite Korean fighter Chan Sung Jung — better known as The Korean Zombie — stepped into the Octagon for the first time since February of 2017. Unfortunately for the Korean star and his legions of fans, this return to action did not go as planned. Instead, he was turned off by a blistering, upswinging elbow from his opponent in the very last second of their epic five-round war. Given that The Korean Zombie was decisively ahead on the scorecards, and a literal second away from what likely would have been a nice, unanimous decision victory, this loss is bound to have stung. That being said, he seems to be in reasonably good spirits nonetheless.

Current UFC strawweight champion Rose Namajunas should be back soon. Namajunas hasn’t fought since UFC 223 when she defeated Joanna Jedrzejczyk for the second time in a row. That fight week was tough for her, as Conor McGregor threw a dolly at the bus she was on and shook her up. Since the fight, Namajunas has been rehabbing an injury and trying to get over the bus attack.

On Saturday night, in the main event of the UFC’s 25th anniversary show in Denver, Colorado, Mexican featherweight contender Yair Rodriguez authored one of the greatest knockouts in UFC history, putting fan favorite Korean contender Chan Sung Jung down with an elbow with just one second left in their five-round battle. With this win, Yair Rodriguez re-established himself as one of the top contenders in the crowded UFC featherweight division, and as a dangerous test for pretty much any of his rivals. That being said, there is one featherweight who is chomping at the bit to fight him: Dagestan’s Zabit Magomedsharipov.
