Canadian lightweight John Makdessi has called the UFC home for years. He has been fighting for the promotion since 2010. Since he joined the UFC, however, the top Canadian fighter in the Octagon was always Georges St-Pierre. Now that St-Pierre is competing so much less, Makdessi believes the UFC is really trying to push him as the next big Canadian fighter. He has fought inside the Octagon 15 times, and 10 of them has been fights in Canada.

Knowing both of the Diaz brothers, that’s probably a pretty unlikely fight to take. Low reward with high risk doesn’t seem like the kind of fights that Stockton’s finest have interest in these days but we never know.

Earlier today a report that a historic and groundbreaking potential “trade” was in the works between the UFC and ONE Championship. The “trade” between the organizations is an exchange between former UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson and the former Bellator and ONE welterweight champion Askren.

UFC fans have been wanting Ben Askren to join the UFC for quite some time now. Well, it appears they are finally getting their wish. It is being reported by Ariel Helwani of ESPN that the UFC and ONE Championship are close to a deal that would send Askren to the UFC and Demetrious Johnson to ONE Championship. This kind of MMA trade is unheard of, and once it becomes official, Askren will have plenty of options for who he can fight in the UFC.

ONE Championship and the UFC are close to finalizing a history-making fighter trade, per ESPN. This potential trade would see the UFC send former flyweight champion and pound-for-pound great Demetrious Johnson to the Singapore-based promotion in exchange for former ONE and Bellator welterweight champion Ben Askren. While this trade is reportedly on the table, it is not official yet.

UFC 229 was hyped as the biggest fight in MMA history, as Conor McGregor would take on lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in the card’s blockbuster main event. Well, as it turns out it did break the UFC’s pay-per-view record, but it may have come at a cost for the two headliners. Leading up to the fight, McGregor threw a dolly through a bus window at UFC 223. Then, during the pre-fight press conferences, McGregor verbally attacked Nurmagomedov’s family, religion and manager. All this added fuel to the fire and Khabib Nurmagomedov reacted in kind following his fourth-round submission win over Conor McGregor.
