Sergio Pettis was one of the top flyweight prospects and considered a future title challenger. Was is the keyword. Pettis took on Jussier Formiga at UFC 229, where Formiga simply dominated the fight. Pettis lost by unanimous decision. The younger Pettis brother was looking like a real title contender at flyweight where he has wins over Joseph Benavidez and Brandon Moreno. However, Pettis but does have a loss to the current champion Henry Cejudo which could impact his title chances.

It’s pretty safe to say that today the No. 4 ranked flyweight contender and Ultimate Fighter season 26 finalist Sijara Eubanks didn’t get the news that she was expecting. That news, of course, being the announcement that her UFC 230 vacant flyweight title bout main event with Valentina Shevchenko was now canceled and Shevchenko vs former strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk was back on for UFC 231 in December.

The shiftings surrounding UFC 230 seem to be settling down. After one canceled flyweight title bout, it has led to another. Originally, the currently vacant flyweight title was to be fought over between the current top-ranked contender and former bantamweight title challenger Valentina Shevchenko and the former strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 231 on December 8.

The madness only continues in the world of the UFC. UFC 230 once again has a new main event and it’s even more unexpected than the last. Just yesterday it was reported that a heavyweight title clash was in discussion between the likes of the champion Daniel Cormier and top contender Derrick Lewis. Well, this has now come to fruition as ESPN’s Brett Okamoto confirms via UFC President Dana White and Lewis himself that the bout is on for the November 3 date in Madison Square Garden.

This brawl began shortly after Khabib Nurmagomedov defeated Conor McGregor by fourth-round submission. The Russian champion then vaulted out of the cage and attacked McGregor’s training partner Dillon Danis, sparking absolute chaos between the two teams.

Shortly after submitting Conor McGregor at UFC 229 on Saturday night, UFC lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov climbed out of the Octagon and dive-bombed McGregor’s training partner Dillon Danis. Nurmagomedov and Danis then engaged in a brief fight, as McGregor began to scuffle with Nurmagomedov’s entourage inside the Octagon. Despite this wild scuffle, Dillon Danis was reportedly out enjoying Las Vegas’ night life shortly thereafter. This according to top UFC featherweight contender Brian Ortega.

Last Saturday night, in the main event of UFC 229, former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor returned to the Octagon after two long years away, as he attempted to reclaim the UFC lightweight belt from undefeated champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Unfortunately for McGregor and his dedicated team, this mission didn’t go as planned. Instead, the Irish MMA star was soundly walloped en route to a fourth-round submission loss. Although he was able to steal a round from Nurmagomedov — something nobody has been able to do in a long time — it was not enough, and he’ll now have to return to the drawing board.

UFC 229 was anticipated to be the biggest event in UFC history. And according to UFC president Dana White, the numbers are reflecting that. A fight is what we got what and what we expected in the big lightweight title main event between champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor. It was what came afterward that caught us all off guard.
