Rockhold opens up on Velasquez's back injury

Recently it was announced that former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez had pulled out of his UFC 196 main event scrap with Fabricio Werdum as a result of a back injury. Shortly after, it was announced that Stipe Miocic had filled in for Velasquez. Following that announcement Fabricio Werdum withdrew from the bout, leaving UFC 196 without a main event.

Earlier this month in Boston Dominick Cruz reclaimed his UFC bantamweight championship in just his 2nd fight in 4 years. Despite the lengthy layoff, Cruz put on a spectacular performance that saw him pick up a split decision win over TJ Dillashaw. Many believed that the decision was a controversial one, and that Dillashaw should have been given the nod. Immediately following the bout, Cruz’s longtime nemesis Urijah Faber called out ‘The Dominator’ for a trilogy fight. While there are no plans set in stone, Dillashaw spoke about Faber potentially getting the title shot rather than him getting an immediate rematch.
