The UFC closed out 2023 with a solid UFC 296 card from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada that saw two titles on the lines. In the main event of UFC 296, Leon Edwards was looking to defend his welterweight title for the second time as he took on Colby Covington. The co-main event saw Alexandre Pantoja searching for his first title defense against Brandon Royval.

For Colby Covington, the bout was his first since a unanimous decision win over Jorge Masvidal last March. In the pay-per-view headliner, he met Leon Edwards. In the build to the bout, Covington was unsurprisingly antagonistic, even invoking the champion’s murdered father.

UFC CEO Dana White says Bellator merging into PFL is a bad thing for MMA and the sport as a whole. Bellator was recently purchased by PFL as the two companies will merge into one. However, Bellator will continue under a “reimagined” system at PFL called the Bellator International Champions Series. The Bellator series will include eight events per year with each card featuring two title fights at the top.

Jon Jones has offered to buy Leon Edwards a motorcycle following his win over Colby Covington at UFC 296. Leon Edwards (22-3 MMA) did indeed defeat Colby Covington (17-4 MMA) in the main event welterweight title fight this past Saturday, December 16th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Henry Cejudo is scolding Sean Strickland for pulling a ‘bitch move’ at UFC 296. It was during UFC 296’s main card this past Saturday night, that saw Strickland and Du Plessis get into a scrap in the crowd at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The two fighters had to be separated, and Strickland was escorted out of the arena.

It was Colby Covington (17-3 MMA) vs. Leon Edwards (21-3 MMA) in a welterweight title fight this past weekend at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The result was a unanimous decision victory for Edwards, who will retain the UFC welterweight belt.
