UFC veteran Vinc Pichel has hit out at Tony Ferguson over a previous sparring session that went wrong. Over the course of the last few years, Tony Ferguson’s career has been on a downward trajectory. With loss after loss piling up, some wonder whether or not it’s time for him to hang up his gloves once and for all. Regardless of whether or not you subscribe to that theory, though, there’s no way of denying the impact he’s been able to have in mixed martial arts.

In the main event of UFC Vegas 81, ranked featherweights threw down as Edson Barboza faced Sodiq Yusuff coming off a year-long layoff. Barboza entered the fight coming off a first-round knockout over Billy Quarantillo in April to return to the win column after losing two fights in a row. Yusuff, meanwhile, hadn’t fought since October of 2022 when he beat Don Shainis by submission in 30-seconds, and before that, beat Alex Caceres by decision.

Paddy Pimblett knows he has to make a statement against Tony Ferguson at UFC 296. Pimblett is set to fight for the first time in a year as he takes on Ferguson on Dec. 16. It’s a big fight for both of their careers, as Pimblett has a ton of hype while Ferguson is on a seven-fight losing skid.

Former UFC champion Kamaru Usman might be moving up to middleweight, but his time at welterweight isn’t done. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ has been out of action since a rematch with Leon Edwards in March. At UFC 286, Kamaru Usman suffered his second-straight loss to ‘Rocky’, this time by unanimous decision. Following the defeat, the former champion was linked to a matchup with Stephen Thompson.

Michael Bisping is reacting to Paulo Costa’s latest fight cancellation. Paulo Costa (14-2 MMA) was scheduled to fight Khamzat Chimaev (12-0 MMA) in a middleweight bout on Saturday, October 21st at UFC 294 which takes place at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.

Former MMA champion Josh Thomson has taken aim at Charles Oliveira for his training technique that contributed to him being forced out of UFC 294. As we now know, Charles Oliveira will not be competing against Islam Makhachev at UFC 294 for the UFC middleweight championship. Instead, Alexander Volkanovski will take his place as a result of Oliveira sustaining a nasty cut in training.

UFC commentator Michael Bisping believes Dricus du Plessis will be frustrated about not getting a title shot. Following on from his win over Robert Whittaker, it seemed as if Dricus du Plessis was destined to be the next man in line to fight Israel Adesanya for the UFC middleweight championship. Alas, it didn’t quite work out that way. Instead, Sean Strickland battled and beat Adesanya at UFC 293 after du Plessis was unable to make a quick turnaround.

The Octagon remained in Nevada for tonight’s UFC Vegas 81 event, an eleven-bout fight card headlined by Sodiq Yusuff vs. Edson Barboza. The highly anticipated featherweight main event resulted in an absolutely thrilling war. Sodiq Yusuff almost finished the contest in round one, but Edson Barboza battled back to turn the tide in rounds two through five, even scoring a sensation spinning heel kick (see that here). After twenty-five minutes of action, Barboza was awarded the unanimous decision victory.

The Octagon remains in Nevada for tonight’s UFC Vegas 81 event, a twelve-bout fight card headlined by Sodiq Yusuff vs. Edson Barboza. Yusuff (13-2 MMA) enters his first career UFC main event sporting a two-fight winning streak, this after defeating Don Shainis (13-5 MMA) by submission in October of 2022 and Alex Caceres (21-14 MMA) by unanimous decision in March of last year.

Former UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling would love to fight Max Holloway. ‘The Funk Master’ has been out of action since a title defense against Sean O’Malley in August. Despite heading into the matchup a heavy favorite, Aljamain Sterling suffered a second-round knockout loss. Despite calls for an instant rematch, ‘Sugar’ instead targeted a potential rematch with Marlon Vera.

George Piro has been appointed to help lead the UFC’s post-USADA drug testing future. Earlier this week, the UFC and USADA announced that they will part ways in 2024. The announcement came along with a statement that Conor McGregor had entered the testing pool. In their statement, the testing program hinted that due to issues with ‘The Notorious’ getting an exemption waiver led to a parting of ways.

Former UFC dual-weight champion Conor McGregor is happy to see Israel Adesanya take some time off. ‘The Last Stylebender’ has been out of action since a title defense against Sean Strickland last month at UFC 293. ‘Tarzan’ scored one of the biggest upsets in MMA history that night, knocking down Israel Adesanya in round one. From there it was academic, as he coasted to a unanimous decision victory.
