Frankie Edgar undecided on retirement after UFC 268 loss: 'I can still do this at a high level'

Frankie Edgar is undecided on his fighting future after UFC 268. Edgar returned to the Octagon at UFC 268 in Madison Square Garden against Marlon Vera. Early on, he had success and entering the third round, it was 1-1 but in the third round, Vera landed a clean front kick that knocked him out. It was his second straight defeat and put the 40-year-old to just 1-4 in his last five. However, he still says he isn’t ready to make a decision on retirement.

Conor McGregor has claimed Max Holloway would be light work if they were to rematch. McGregor and Holloway first fought back in 2013 at featherweight where the Irishman won a three-round decision. It was McGregor’s second UFC fight while it was Holloway’s sixth and dropped him to 3-3. After that loss, however, the Hawaiian went on a 13-fight winning streak including winning and defending the featherweight belt.

Three-time NBA All-Star point guard, Deron Williams will take to the boxing ring as he will take on five-time NFL Pro Bowl running back, Frank Gore on the undercard of Jake Paul vs. Tommy Fury. The fight was announced on Tuesday by the promotion with the bout taking place at 215lbs and will be four rounds. It will also serve as the pro debut for both Williams and Gore. The event will take place on December 18 in Tampa, Florida, and will air on Showtime pay-per-view.

MMA analyst Chael Sonnen shared a bold prediction about UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, suggesting he will retire sooner than later. Usman just defeated his archrival, Colby Covington, for the second time when he won a hard-fought unanimous decision over him at UFC 268 this past Saturday night in New York City. For Usman, the win over Covington improved his UFC record to 15-0. He is currently first or second in nearly all of the welterweight division’s all-time records, right behind UFC Hall of Famer Georges St-Pierre. Even though he hasn’t caught GSP in terms of title defenses yet, UFC president Dana White recently admitted that Usman has surpassed GSP in his eyes in terms of being the greatest fighter of all time in the welterweight division.

It was an absolutely phenomenal victory by Vera, who will now be ranked in the top-10 after taking out Edgar in such an impressive fashion. Now that he’s in the top-10 of the UFC bantamweight division, Vera can now start calling out the top guys in the division. By beating Edgar, Vera now has the ability to call out some big names, and he has one in mind in particular in Dvalishvili, who Vera believes he has the style to potentially defeat.

Former UFC flyweight contender Ryan Benoit has been suspended for 10 months by USADA after testing positive for a banned substance. USADA announced in a press release that Benoit tested positive for modafinil, which is a sleep disorder drug, following his decision loss to Zarrukh Adashev at a UFC Fight Night card back in July. Not only did Benoit lose that fight, but the UFC later cut him from the roster, and now he has been hit with the news that he has been suspended for 10 months.

Speaking to Mike Swick recently on his podcast, Vettori said that he believes Dariush is the one man who can give Makhachev problems. Although Vettori admitted that Makhachev is a great fighter, he believes Dariush has the style to beat him.
