Report: Two Massive Welterweight Scraps Targeted For Year’s End
Looks like the UFC is planning to put on two huge welterweight fights towards the end of the year!
According to Bleacher Report’s Jeremy Botter, UFC welterweight champion “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler will make his next title defense later this year against “The Natural Born Killer” Carlos Condit.
Botter also tweeted that a welterweight number one contenders fight between Johny Hendricks and Tyron Woodley is planned for year’s end.
Here are his tweets:

The news is great if you’re a Carlos Condit fan, not so much if you’re on the Johny Hendricks bandwagon.
Condit (30-8 MMA) returned from a 14-month injury layoff in May, where he scored a second-round TKO victory over former title challenger Thiago Alves.
“The Natural Born Killer” has gone 2-2 in his past four fights, suffering losses to the aforementioned Johny Hendricks and Tyron Woodley in that time.
Meanwhile, Robbie Lawler (26-10 MMA) is coming off a “Fight of the year” performance, which resulted in a fifth-round TKO victory over Rory MacDonald at UFC 189.
As for the second proposed welterweight match-up, Johny Hendricks (17-3 MMA) is looking to build off his decision win over Matt Brown this past March. Like Condit, “Bigg Rigg” has gone 2-2 in his past four fights.
As for Tyron Woodley (15-3 MMA), “The Chosen One” has earned back-to-back octagon victories over Dong Hyun Kim and Kelvin Gastelum respectively.
Neither contest, Lawler vs. Condit or Hendricks vs. Woodley, has been confirmed by UFC officials.
What do you think of these possible welterweight fights? Should Condit be next in line to fight Lawler? Sound off Penn Nation!
