After Fight Cancelation, Joseph Benavidez vs. Ali Bagautinov Bumped To Main Card
Early Friday morning UFC president Dana White announced, via Twitter, that the co-main event fight for UFC 192, going down on Saturday, had been canceled.
The fight, a welterweight scrap between former champion Johny Hendricks and Tyron Woodley, was called off because of an issue Hendricks had with cutting weight. After White broke the news, Hendricks manager spoke out and explained that Hendricks was rushed to the hospital last night after having an intestine blockage and a kidney stone.
The MMA world reacted in plenty of different ways, from fighters taking shots at Hendricks for not making weight, to those who were just bummed out the fight wouldn’t be happening.
Well, one good thing has come of the unfortunate turn of events.
Due to the shake up, UFC flyweights Joseph Benavidez and Ali Bagautinov will now go from the FOX Sports prelims to the main card, which will air on PPV. I guess that’s only good news if you plan on watching the PPV, but either way, it will be nice seeing that top flyweight fight take place on the main card.
UFC’s Dave Sholler confirmed the news:
This just in from Silva/Shelby: @JoeJitsu vs. @AliPuncherKing moves to main card.
