Aldo on McGregor: ‘His Time Will Come, Then I’ll Smash Him’
Jose Aldo, UFC featherweight champion, pulled out of his scheduled title defense against Conor McGregor at UFC 189 with a rib injury.
The champ most likely watched McGregor TKO Chad Mendes in round two of their fight to grab the interim title, setting up a unification fight between the Brazilian and the Irishmen.
While attending a soccer match, Aldo talked to Rock Bola radio show and said when the time does come for them to fight, he plans on doing nothing but smashing him. He also talked about his injury and said he’s still not cleared to train, but should be back in the gym in two weeks.
“We will run through him no matter when the fight happens, but his time will come. When it does, you can be sure we will smash him.”
“I’m still recovering, should be back to training in two weeks. I’ll do more exams. As soon as the doctor clears me, I’ll be back to training.”
