Alexander Gustafsson: Going from PPV Headliner To Free Fight Pass Card ‘Sucks’
By Evan Stoumbelis
Alexander Gustafsson went the distance with light heavyweight kingpin Jon Jones and lost by close decision, with that the UFC said he would get a rematch with a win over his next opponent, enter Jimi Manuwa. The two are set to fight this Saturday at UFC London, but one detail left out to Gustafsson was that he would be fighting on UFC’s new online Fight Pass.
I didn’t know about that until just a few weeks ago, but a fight is a fight.” Gustafsson said while on Ariel Helwani’s “The MMA Hour”.
When asked what it was like to go from a Pay-Per view main event to UFC Fight Pass main event Gustafsson said “Well, that sucks a little bit.”
Manuwa is 14-0 in his professional MMA career, and a win over Gustafsson would launch the #11 ranked light heavyweight fighter into the UFC’s top 10 for sure. However Gustafsson isn’t overlooking the 34 year old Manuwa saying:
I think Jimi Manuwa is a very dangerous fighter. I think with this ranking system he’s a lot better than the guys that are higher ranked. He’s a very dangerous fighter that has been sneaking around the shadows. Nobody knows about him, but he’s very dangerous. So, I’m really looking forward to the fight on Saturday.”
Tune in to UFC fight pass this Saturday to see the two square off.
