Anthony Johnson on Alistair Overeem: “He’s Team Alistair, that’s it.”
Prior to his fight with Frank Mir at UFC 169 (where he won via unanimous decision), UFC heavyweight Alistair Overeem left his teammates at the Blackzilians training camp in Florida in favor of training in Thailand. In a recent interview with FOX Sports, Anthony “Rumble” Johnson (a member of the Blackzilian’s) had this to say about “The Reem”,
“I ain’t got not beef with him, I just don’t care about him. He’s not a Blackzilian, he ain’t no Blackzilian. Don’t even put him in that category. He’s Team Alistair, that’s it.”
Even though we don’t exaclty know what caused his departure, it seems as though Overeem wasn’t the biggest team player. Johnson is set to make his return to the UFC, where he will fight top light-heavy weight Phil “Mr. Wonderful” Davis at UFC 172. It’s a safe bet that Overeem will not be helping with that training camp, or any other of Johnson’s in the future. Johnson has fought at heavyweight before, so the chance of these two meeting in the octagon may be unlikely, but not impossible.
