Bas Rutten Explains Ludwig’s Dislike For Women’s MMA
Team Alpha Male’s split with former head coach Duane “Bang” Ludwig seemed like an amicable one when it first happened. All was not as it seemed, though, and trouble was brewing beneath the surface. Urijah Faber recently revealed some dirty details behind Ludwig’s stint as head coach at Team Alpha Male including the Denver native’s dislike of coaching women.
Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Bas Rutten doesn’t believe that Ludwig thinks women shouldn’t fight, but rather he experiences a discomfort when seeing women get punched in the face.
“What he says, it’s not like he doesn’t like women fighting,” Rutten told Submission Radio. “He thinks it’s unnatural when women get hit in the face. He doesn’t like to see that. That’s his thing. It’s not like he has anything against their techniques or anyone. Like Rousey, he talks always great about Rousey and about great women fighters, but he says ‘to me it feels unnatural when I see a women get beat in the face’. You know?”
Ronda Rousey has revolutionized women’s mixed martial arts and is one of the faces of the company. Rousey will be stepping into the octagon with Holly Holm at UFC 193 in Melbourne, Australia and they will be showcasing elite MMA at its finest in front of over 50,000 screaming fans. Rutten believes Ludwig will be one of those fans screaming to cheer them on in putting together a fantastic fight.
“But these women choose for it and they want to do it, so it’s all good. He just says that [he doesn’t like seeing women get hit in the face]. He doesn’t say anything about the technique or the women or about being bad. No. He just says ‘I thought it was unnatural when a women gets punched hard in the face’.”
