Bellator’s Douglas Lima Would Take GLORY Fight with Paul Daley at Dynamite
Bellator Welterweight Champion Douglas Lima is set to defend his championship against Andrey Koreshkov at Bellator 140 on July 17th. Lima is hoping for an easy fight and a quick turnaround so he has the opportunity to fight at the first ever GLORY/Bellator Dynamite card in September.
“If I’m 100 percent, I want to fight at that card,” Lima told MMA Fighting. “If there’s room for me, I want to be there. I haven’t fought in a while, so I want to stay active. If I’m injury-free, I will ask for a fight there.”
GLORY is one of the fastest rising combat sports brands in the world, let alone kickboxing. The fights have been featured on SPIKE and fighters like Joe Schilling have jumped from the GLORY ring into the Bellator cage. Lima has a warrior’s mindset and wouldn’t mind giving GLORY a shot.
“I would do it, for sure. I always wanted to fight at Glory,” Lima said. “I’ve fought before in an amateur muay thai bout when I started fighting MMA, and I won by knockout. I love muay thai and I would love to fight there. If they gave me an opportunity, I would accept it right away, but I’m focused on this fight first.”
When asked if he would face fellow welterweight Paul Daley, Lima said he would jump at the opportunity. “I don’t every run away from fights,” Lima said. “I know he’s a muay thai fighter with more than 30 fights in his record, but I would immediately accept this offer. No doubt about it. I would prefer to do this fight under MMA rules, it’s my game, but I would take this fight anywhere.”
Do you think it would be smart for Lima to challenge Daley to a kickboxing match? Should he keep it MMA rules? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
