Ben Henderson explains ‘terrible’ performance at ADCC 2015

Former lightweight champion Ben Henderson represented the UFC at the Abu Dhabi Combat Club on Saturday and came up short in his first match and only of the day. “Bendo” got submitted by Abdukadirov Magomed. Magomed took the back of Henderson who shortly tapped out after getting trapped in a rear naked choke attempt. Henderson shared his thoughts on his performance:

“I think it was not a very good performance at all,” Henderson told MMA Fighting. “It was a downright terrible performance. I’m not used to having those type of terrible performances when I compete, I have better performances.”

Henderson plans to enter the openweight competition as well as a way to redeem himself for what he felt was a weak performance.

“I think today was a terrible performance, and I think I need to do something to redeem myself. I don’t like waiting two more years for ADCC in 2017, so I’m gonna try the absolute, even though those boys are pretty big, pretty strong and pretty good too, but I gotta try the absolute to hopefully make up for such a terrible performance on my weight class.”

Henderson is expected to make his return to the octagon in November when he goes toe-to-toe with Thiago Alves at UFC Fight Night 79.
