Brian Ebersole vs. Rick Story set for UFC 167 in Las Vegas

By Chris Taylor - September 8, 2013

UFC officials recently announced that a welterweight bout between Brian Ebersole (50-15-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) and Rick “The Horror” Story (15-7 MMA, 8-5 UFC) is the latest addition to the already stacked UFC 167 card set for November 16 in Las Vegas.

Brian Ebersole was last seen in the octagon way back at July 2012’s UFC 149 event in Calgary. Ebersole suffered a split-decision loss to James Head that evening, which marked his first defeat under the Zuffa banner. Prior to that, Ebersole had gone 4-0 inside the octagon, scoring victories over Chris Lytle, Dennis Hallman, Claude Patrick and T.J. Waldburger respectively.

After losing his UFC debut to John Hathaway at 2009’s UFC 99 event in Germany, Rick Story went on to win his next six fights inside the octagon. That six-fight win streak included victories over current welterweight number 1 contender Johny “Bigg Rigg” Hendricks and former 170-pound title challenger Thiago “Pitbull” Alves.

However, since his victory over Alves at UFC 130, Story has gone a dismal 2-4 in his past six UFC appearances. Rick’s most recent effort came at UFC 160 in May, where he lost a close split-decision to veteran Mike Pyle.

UFC 167 takes place November 16 live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The events main card airs on pay-per-view, following the prelims which air on FOX Sports 1 and Facebook.

UFC 167 is headlined by a welterweight title fight between champion Georges St. Pierre and challenger Johny Hendricks.
