Cerrone misses USADA drug test
Under the new random drug testing policies, fighters must alert the UFC and US Anti-Doping Agency of their whereabouts at all times.
So when Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone took a spur-of-the-moment trip to Las Vegas and the USADA wanted to drug test him, things didn’t go over so well.
He spoke on the Pirate Life podcast:
“In the new testing, you have to tell them [UFC/USADA] your whereabouts. F***, I don’t know where I’m going to be. They show up to my house and are like ‘where are you this weekend?’ It was on the weekend that I went to Vegas on a whim.
“They were like ‘where are you?’ and I was like ‘I’m in Vegas’. And they were like ‘we’re at your house’. And I was like ‘well that sucks.'”
“So I failed. I failed my drug test.”
As a result Cerrone was given a ‘whereabouts failure’ according to BloodyElbow. Accumulating 3 whereabouts failures within a year is an “anti-doping rule violation.”
Thankfully, the violation won’t impact Cerrone’s title fight against Rafael Dos Anjos in December.
