Chad Mendes: Conor McGregor owes me a rematch!

By BJPENN.COM News - August 31, 2015

The stage was set at “UFC 189” for Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor to tear the house down with their fight for the UFC Featherweight Championship. Unfortunately, the bout would never happen as Aldo was forced out of the bout due to a rib injury. Instead, McGregor fought Chad “Money” Mendes who took the main-event fight on just two weeks’ notice.

Mendes looked impressive, but it was obvious he only had two weeks to prepare. The Team Alpha Male standout lost the bout in the second round and watched as McGregor held the interim championship high above his head. Now, Mendes is looking for redemption in the form of a fully prepared rematch; One where Mendes can fit an actual training camp in.

“I know it, he knows it, everybody knows it— you know, I go out there with a full camp destroy that guy 10 out of 10 times,” Mendes said on UFC Tonight. “Obviously going into that fight I’m gonna talk it up. You know ‘I’m in great shape, I’ve been training.’ Yeah, I’ve been training and keeping a decent shape but there was no way you could ever be in a five-round fight shape, you know, in two weeks. Like I said, he knows it, everybody knows it. (With a) full camp, I destroy that guy.”

While Frankie Edgar is next in line for Mendes, “Money” is hoping to land another fight with McGregor somewhere down the road.

“I feel like he owes me a rematch with a full fight camp… let’s see if he’s man enough to do that.”

Who do you think will come out on top of the fight between Mendes and Edgar? How about Aldo or McGregor? Should the winners of each bout square off while the losers fight for another opportunity to capture gold? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
