Champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk bitter from all the attention being focused on Ronda Rousey?
UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey is simply all the rage. From movies to magazine covers, media reporters are like starving animals waiting to get fed an answer from Rousey just days ahead of her main event UFC 193 title defense against Holly Holm.
It is a different tone for UFC women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk, who defends her title against Valerie Letourneau in the co-main event. The media crowd is smaller and reporters are more placid with Jedrzejczyk, who says she is content in getting to show off her skills to the crowd that came focused on Rousey.
“I’m happy to be here,” Jedrzejczyk told MMAjunkie. “I’m happy that I’m going to fight with Ronda, finally, so big thanks (to the UFC) for this huge opportunity. I like this part of my job.”
“People are just going to get a chance to see me,” she stated.
With this UFC event being a historic one looking to shatter the attendance record, Jedrzejczyk is only feeding off the energy she is getting from her established fan base ahead of the fight. With a decisive win this weekend, that energy will only grow as people get to see what she is capable of doing.
“I’m ready – anytime, anywhere, I’ll fight for the UFC,” Jedrzejczyk said. “I don’t feel any pressure about fighting (in front of 70,000 potential fans). Of course, lots of emotions are going into my head, but I’m getting so much energy from my fans.”
Do you see a dominant performance coming from the strawweight champion? Or will Valerie Letourneau give Jedrzejczyk her first loss and take the belt? Give us our prediction in the comments!
