Champ Jon Jones Has No Aspirations To Fight The ‘Slowing’ Dan Henderson

By BJPENN.COM News - July 13, 2013

When Dan Henderson was imported back into the UFC as the last reigning Strikeforce light-heavyweight champion, he was quickly ushered into the UFC title picture.

A Fight-Of-The-Year performance over ‘Shogun’ Rua made him a lock for a shot against Jon Jones for the UFC crown that has eluded the MMA legend his entire career.

Unfortunately for ‘Hendo’ he was forced out of his shot at the UFC belt with an injury and due to recent losses against Rashad Evans and Lyoto Machida, respectively, is completely out of the title picture.

In a recent statement made to MMAMania.com, Jon Jones gave his thoughts on a potential alignment against Dan Henderson in the future, and it doesn’t sound good for Dan.

“I have no wishes to fight Dan Henderson. Dan Henderson is a guy who, you know, he’s done a lot for this sport already, he’s a lot older. I think he’s a guy a lot of people would expect me to beat anyways. So I have no big dreams of fighting Dan Henderson.”

Dan Henderson is one of the oldest competitors currently signed to the UFC and at 42 years old the current champ believes he is starting to slow down.

“[Henderson’s] last fight with Rashad Evans you could really see him starting to slow down,. So fighting him I don’t think really proves much.”
