COACH! Jessica Eye The Only Challenge To Rousey
Jessica Eye currently has her sights set on her next opponent Miesha Tate. Their fight at “UFC on FOX 16” in Chicago, Illinois could possibly be a title eliminator and if Eye becomes victorious, her coach thinks she has what it takes to dethrone Ronda Rousey.
Ronda Rousey will be stepping into the octagon at UFC 190 to take on current challenger Bethe Correia in Brazil. If Rousey makes it past her, we could see Eye get her title shot.
In a recent interview with “Heavy Hands” podcast, Eye’s coach Joe Delguyd shared his thoughts on why Rousey has been so dominant. “…Your hip meets her hip, it’s goodnight, adios amigo. [To beat Ronda] somebody is gonna have to give her a tremendous amount of movement— maybe make her reach, maybe make her make mistakes, maybe use the jab to punish her a little, swell her up… Maybe even be Mayweather-ish, you know? Don’t be so fan-friendly—The girl that has that particular skillset is in our house.”
Delguyd went on to explain why Eye’s skillset could be Rousey’s weakness. “I have all the confidence in the world in [Eye],” Delguyd said. “Everybody else in the world is coming straight in, and [an out-boxing style] is the specific skillset, and she has that specific skillset.”
Do you think Ronda Rousey will make it past Bethe Correia? If Jessica Eye wins, should she be next in line for a shot at championship gold? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
