Cole Miller: Conor McGregor is UFC Show Pony and way into Ireland
Following Cole Miller’s unanimous decision win over Andy Ogle at UFC Fight Night 30, Miller decided to use his post-fight octagon interview to call out “European fighters”. The U.K crowd let him have it, but Miller wasn’t finished until he called out one more fighter, referring to him by the name, “Colin McGoober.”
Miller of course was speaking of none other than “The Notorious” Conor McGregor. Miller is certainly not the first one to comment on the hype surrounding the Irish featherweight. He’s also only one of many who have called out the UFC for how they’ve gone about marketing McGregor. Miller had this to say to Fighters Only,
“The UFC is trying to buy a country, get all these fans in Ireland and they’ve got a good fighter in Conor McGregor, everybody is behind him so they’ve turned him into a show-pony. You see him everywhere, they fly him out to every event, you see him there looking all GQ.”
McGregor is still sidelined from his ACL injury he suffered in his last bout, a unanimous decision win over Max Holloway. Miller also commented on his reasons for calling out McGregor,
“I am not trying to say he is a bad fighter or anything like that, I’m just saying that he can’t walk into the UFC, win a decision over a 21-year-old kid like Max Holloway and then talk shit about MY team mates, American Top Team guys like Nik Lentz and Dustin Poirier.”Again,
Miller is only echoing what many other fights have already pointed out. Should Miller be the one to face McGregor upon his return to the octagon? Or should it be one of the other fighters that have put in their two cents about the hype machine that is Conor McGregor?
