Cyborg’s nutritionist says ‘she could definitely make 135 by December’
Fans holding out for an announcement of Ronda Rousey facing Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino should keep their hopes up; The fight may just happen after all.
After Ronda Rousey’s dominant performance at “UFC 190”, Dana White stated that “Cyborg” needs to prove that she can make 135 before the fight is even talked about. Since that post-fight interview, Tito Ortiz claimed that the UFC contacted “Cyborg” about fighting Rousey in Dallas, Texas on December 5th.
White has since refuted their claims, but “Cyborg” sticks by her story. George Lockhart, “Cyborg’s” nutritionist, confirmed today that he could get his client down to 135 by December.
“If they want her to fight December fifth, it would be within the timeline,” Lockhart told MMA Fighting. “It would be close, but she could definitely make 135 before December fifth.” He continued, “A lot of people don’t have the athleticism or the conditioning or the mindset to do this. [Cyborg] does. I don’t see it being a problem at all.”
Justino is currently under contract with the UFC, but she still appears in fights in Invicta FC. She is their reigning and defending featherweight champion and will need to drop ten pounds to meet Ronda Rousey in the octagon as a bantamweight. Lockhart is confident that “Cyborg” can make the fight happen.
“The more time we have the better, obviously,” Lockhart stated. “But we could get her down there within four to six months.”
