Dana White & TUF Producers Cover Medical Bills/Promise UFC Fight for Ejected TUF 18 Fighter Tim Gorman

Last night on the second episode of the 18th season of The Ultimate Fighter, bantamweight prospect and BJPENN.COM Blogger, Tim Gorman became the first fighter to be removed from the competition and subsequently the TUF house. His removal came not at the hands of another fighter, however, but to the hands of a badly torn hamstring he suffered on the week of his first elimination bout to get into the house. The up-and-coming MMA fighter, showed resilience and determination in his first bout, as he did so with the injury already existing.

Since the injury was pre-existing prior to his entry into the UFC’s elimination tournament, Gorman was ineligible for official assistance from The Ultimate Fighter show or the UFC’s insurance.

Gorman was very vocal about his injury and about staying in the house to compete this season, as he attempted to convince both the TUF doctor and UFC president Dana White that he will fight with one leg if needed. His pleas were not enough to convince the medical staff or show executives to allow him to stay and as we all saw last night, Gorman was forced out of the TUF house so he could rehab the injury.

Both the TUF producers and Dana White showed the talented bantamweight prospect an amazing amount of support following his exodus from MMA’s most prestigious tournament.“Dana White personally shook my hand, eye-to-eye, promised that he would give me a fight in the UFC,” Stated Gorman in his official BJPENN.COM TUF Blog. “I know Dana White is an honorable man, a man of his word, I believe with the utmost sincerity that he will give me a fight in the UFC.

The UFC President and TUF producers, Jamie and Gary went above and beyond their required role to personally pay, out of their own pocket, for all the medical expenses of Tim despite the injury being a pre-existing condition and being un-covered by the show or the UFC’s insurance provider.

While his journey on The Ultimate Fighter may have been short-lived, make no mistake about it, Tim Gorman has a bright future under the bright lights of the UFC and the promotions support of him through this time is a testament to that.
