Dana White: ‘Jones Or No Jones, UFC Will Go To New York’
UFC president Dana White is eagerly awaiting to see if MMA will be legalized in New York. The UFC has already reserved a date for Madison Square Garden, just in case.
So what kind of card would the promotion put together for its first New York show? Probably a big one, but according to White, it might have to be one without one of its biggest stars.
White talked on the SiriusXM Fight Cluband said that he is of course excited, although cautiously, for the chance to put on a show in NY, but admits it would be kind of a bummer to do it without Jon Jones.
“I guess I gotta say what I’ve been saying all along: I’m just going to sit back and see what happens. I just don’t get too optimistic about New York any more … even though right now looks really optimistic. We’ll see what happens.”
“He is just laying low and handling his business, man. I don’t know when we are going to see him again. I honestly don’t know.”
“Yeah, fight fan, promoter and everything else, it would definitely suck. It would suck, but he’s in a situation and he’s got to handle his business. We will bring a good card there with Jon Jones or without him.”
