Dana White Surprised By Johny Hendricks Missing Weight

The long-awaited bout for the vacant UFC Welterweight Championship was in danger of being canceled last night after one of its participants almost missed weight. Johny Hendricks originally weighed in at 171.5 pounds, which was a shock to many as he was under the Dolce Diet. Hendricks went to a local gym and dropped the remaining weight, coming in at exactly 170 pounds. Like many in attendance, Dana White was surprised that Johny Hendricks had that much trouble cutting weight.

In a recent interview with MMAFighting, Dana White explained why he was so confused about Hendricks missing weight. “Johny Hendricks always makes weight, and he’s with (Mike) Dolce. Dolce’s guys always make weight. The only thing that makes sense is that their scale was off that they were weighing in on at the hotel.”

The title match would have gone on as scheduled if Hendricks missed weight the second time around, but with an added stipulation. White stated that if Hendricks won, the title would remain vacant. However, if Lawler were to walk out of the cage with his hands raised, he would be walking out with the UFC Welterweight Championship as well. Luckily, they do not have to worry about this anymore.
