Dana White Thinks Frank Mir Beat Andrei Arlovski At UFC 191
A lot of people were expecting a war between former UFC heavyweight champions Andrei Arlovski and Frank Mir when they fought each other at UFC 191.
Instead they went three rounds with a lot of clinching and not a lot of solid striking. Let’s be honest, our expectations were perhaps a bit high after watching each of their last fights. Arlovski was in that crazy back and forth battle with Travis Browne and Mir of course delivered that one punch KO over Todd Duffee.
Who else was expecting a war? UFC president Dana White.
White joined the FOX Sports 2 post-fight show and commented on the underwhelming fight, saying it wasn’t what he expected it to be, but he actually thought Mir did enough to win the fight.
“It wasn’t what I expected it to be, but I actually had Mir winning that fight. I was expecting that fight to look more like Travis Browne and Arlovski than the fight that it was. These guys are two big, hard-hitting heavyweights and they went three rounds.”
Mir didn’t win, the judges gave it to Arlovski who now remains in the weird title picture of the heavyweight division.
