Dana White won’t say if UFC 169’s Mir vs. Overeem loser will have to leave town
UFC President Dana White is not sure if the loser of this weekend’s heavyweight bout between Frank Mir (16-8 MMA, 14-8 UFC) and Alistair Overeem (36-13 MMA, 1-2 UFC) will be handed a pink-slip from the organization.
“It appears that way,” stated the UFC President Dana White to reporters on Monday. “I don’t ever like to make those calls until I see the fight. What if that fight’s a (Mark) Hunt vs. (Antonio) ‘Bigfoot’ Silva fight?”
The former Strikeforce and Dream heavyweight champion, Overeem, has dropped his past two fights, both by way of knockout. Both of those losses, came in fights where “The Reem” seemed to be getting the better of his opponents (Travis Browne & Antonio Silva) before inevitably suffering defeat.
Meanwhile, former UFC heavyweight champion, Frank Mir, is trying to escape from a three-fight losing skid. His most recent effort saw him lose to Josh Barnett at UFC 164 in Milwaukee by way of first-round KO. Prior to the Barnett loss, Mir had suffered defeats to Daniel Cormier and Junior dos Santos respectively.
One thing is for sure, a lot will be on the line for both of these fighters when they meet in the octagon this Saturday night!
Who do you have winning this heavyweight bout Penn Nation?
Props to MMAWeekly’s Erik Fontanez, who was the first to report the news.
