Daniel Cormier: ‘I couldn’t really give a sh*t about Jon Jones’

Current UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier is pretty sick of hearing about former champ, Jon Jones, and let the media know it at the recent UFC 192 media conference call.

It seemed like almost all of the questions being thrown at Cormier and his opponent Alexander Gustafsson had in some way to do with Jones, whether it be his return, their fights against him, etc.

Well eventually Cormier got sick of it and had this to say:

“I couldn’t really give a s— about Jon Jones.”

“The thing that’s really f—– up is, we live our day to day lives normal, we don’t worry about Jones. But you ask questions about this guy, and then the headline will make it sound as though I’m over here stewing about Jon Jones.”

“For a long time Jones has kind of been a guy who’s tied to me very closely. I don’t anticipate that ever changing. With his hearing being so close, it adds fuel to the fire. It keeps him relevant in the division even though he’s gone. It kind of allows him to stay and cast a shadow.”

Jones hearing is scheduled for next week, the same week as UFC 192, so it seems like we might have some more answers as to the future of the division by the end of next Saturday.
