Demian Maia Says He Has ‘A Few Years Left’
The UFC’s Demian Maia came back from nearly a year off and dispatched undefeated welterweight Ryan LaFlare at UFC Fight Night 62 on Saturday night.
Maia, who now has a two fight win streak and is 20-6 overall, really put it on LaFlare for the first four rounds, but looked substantially tired in the final round and basically went into survive mode. Maia managed to get through the fifth round and won by unanimous decision. The fight, which was primarily a grappling match, didn’t please everyone due to the lack of brawling and standup but it was a win and Maia is glad to have it.
He spoke at the post-fight press conference about his career and what’s next for him.
“The most main and co-main events I can do – that’s very important to me. I know I have a few years left in my career, and I want to have great years in these fights that are left for me – to have the chance to fight for the belt once again.”
Do you see Maia getting back to the title before he hangs up his gloves? Sound off in the comments.
