Demian Maia’s Chasing Major UFC Record

UFC submission ace Demian Maia is on a mission. The welterweight currently has seven submission finishes in the UFC. The record? Eleven. Currently there are only three fighters ahead of Maia on the list.

Maia told MMAJunkie that he’s looking to pursue that goal and be the all time submission finish record holder before he retires.

“That’s a good goal to chase. Now that’s one of my goals.”

“I feel in my prime. It’s something that’s very strange. A lot of people this age start to slow down, but every fight I feel better. I’ve never been so ready for a fight.”

Maia’s most recent submission came over Neil Magny at UFC 190, when he forced Magny to tap with a rear-naked choke in the second round.
