Don’t Get It Twisted! Nate Diaz Almost Fought McGregor At UFC 189

We now know that Jose Aldo is still planning on fighting at UFC 189 and only sustained a bruised rib, not a fractured one. Even so, the UFC has secured Chad Mendes to be ready in the event Aldo actually can’t fight.

Before that was announced a few names were floating around, names like Urijah Faber, Frankie Edgar, Mendes and Nate Diaz.

Diaz’s name caught a lot of fans by surprise, mostly because he’s a lightweight, but it was confirmed on last nights UFC Tonight that Diaz was contacted by the UFC. So how close was Diaz to fighting McGregor? Well according to Diaz, via a Tweet sent out Tuesday night––then deleted, he was ready to go.

The UFC ended up going with Mendes, but Diaz wants fans to know that he wasn’t blowing smoke up anyones you know what.
