Dos Anjos pissed off about Cerrone’s IV clearance: ‘he has plenty of stomach left to drink beer, party’
UFC lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos is not happy with his competitors medical advantage. Despite the recent IV ban, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone has been cleared to rehydrate using an IV after weigh-ins for their championship fight at UFC on Fox 17 on Dec. 19, according to Bloody Elbow.
Cerrone had previously mentioned that he had to get half of his stomach removed after an ATV accident years ago, making it more difficult to process foods.
Although Dos Anjos is upset of the IV clearance for Cerrone, he says it won’t make any difference in the outcome of the fight.
From Bloody Elbow:
“Of course he has an advantage. Nobody is allowed to do that, just him. “Dos Anjos told Combate. “IV’s help a lot when you’re recovering weight. But for our fight, it won’t make much difference, because it won’t change the outcome of the fight. The belt will remain with me. I’m not a doctor, but he has plenty of stomach left to drink beer, party and whatnot. But to lose weight, he needs an IV to get it back. Whatever, if the doctor said he’s allowed, then he’s allowed. It won’t change anything. The title will still be with me and I will show why I’m the champion.”
