Erick Silva Plans To Submit Ben Saunders In Rio De Janeiro
Erick Silva is coming off a dominant first round submission win over Mike Rhodes recently at “UFC Fight Night: Machida vs. Dollaway” in December, and is looking to build momentum with a potential win over Ben Saunders at “UFC Fight Night 62” on March 21st.
Saunders won’t be an easy win however, as he is coming off a submission win over Chris Heatherly in his return bout to the Octagon back in August of 2014. The submission win was the first omoplata submission in UFC history.
Silva spoke to Globo to discuss the bout, in an interview translated by BloodyElbow:
“Saunders is a big guy, which is good. The bigger they are, the harder they fall. My game plan is to take him down and submit him. I’m training a lot of jiu-jitsu. His legs are long, I’m sure I’ll twist them. It’s going to be a good and quick fight. I’m more focused and training more. I’m aggressive as a tiger and calm enough to wait for the right opportunity.”
