Erik Koch vs. Dustin Poirier Set For UFC 164
Erik Koch and Dustin Poirier are set to duke it out at UFC 164 in August.
Sources close to the fight confirmed with MMAWeekly that the bout will take place when the UFC makes its return to Milwaukee.
Both Koch and Poirier will be looking to rebound from recent losses.
Erik Koch (13-2) experienced his first loss since 2010 against Ricardo Lamas back in January. Before getting knocked out by Lamas, Koch was undefeated in the UFC at 2-0. He earned “Knockout of the Night” in his debut with the company and went on to beat Jonathan Brookins in convincing fashion, earning himself a unanimous decision victory. Koch is looking to add another stoppage to his record with this upcoming bout.
Dustin Poirier (13-3) was on an impressive streak within the UFC as well before suffering a loss to Chan Sung Jung. Although the fight was awarded “Fight of the Year” by a number of media outlets, his four-fight win streak was put to a halt and there was now a blemish on his UFC record. He seemed to have returned to form against Jonathan Brookins by making him submit in the first round of their bout, but he lost by way of unanimous decision in the next fight against Cub Swanson.
