Former UFC Champion Jon Jones’ plea hearing gets a date
Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones ran into some issues with the law again earlier this year in April when he fled the scene of a hit-and-run which was allegedly caused by him. Jones returned to the crash where a pregnant woman was injured in the wreck supposedly caused by him, only to grab cash from his car and run again.
Jones was missing for nearly twenty-four hours before he turned himself in to the Albuquerque police department. Jones was then arrested for on a felony hit and run charge.
Now, Jones will be in front of a judge before the end of the month. “Bones” and his legal team will appear in front of Judge Charles Brown on September 29 at 8:30 AM MT at the Albuquerque’s Second Judicial District Court, according to MMA Fighting.
Jones’ incident in April forced the Ultimate Fighting Championship to suspend him of his title as well as indefinitely suspend him from action. Jones was slated to defend his championship against Anthony “Rumble” Johnson at UFC 187, but “Bones” was replaced by Daniel Cormier. Cormier’s second shot at gold paid off this time as he was able to submit Johnson in dominant fashion.
