Frank Trigg talks with Titan FC champ Rick Hawn on retirement

By Russell Ess - October 30, 2015

Frank Trigg of MMAOddsBreaker spoke with Titan FC champ Rick Hawn (21-4) on his retirement following his championship win over Pat Healy at Titan FC 35.

Trigg asked about his decision to retire and Hawn gave his reasoning on the struggle of being a professional fighter.

“It was a long time coming. Several reasons, one, I’m not a young kid anymore. It’s hard. It’s my second career in combat sports. It just weighs on you physically. Mentally, I’m just like, ‘Man, do I want to keep doing this?’ It’s hard. That’s one of the reasons. Another reason, financially it doesn’t make much sense. I need something more secure. For me, fighting doesn’t pay the bills right now like I used to. It’s a dangerous job and if I ever got hurt like I’ve done in the past, I can’t fight, can’t work. I need something a little more long term especially at my age.”

Hawn retires with accolades of being a former US Judo Olympian, winning a Titan FC championship, and also winning a Bellator tournament.
