The injury bug has struck again!

This time it’s June’s UFC Fight Night 69 event headliner that has taken the hit.

UFC officials announced today that Alexander Gustaffson has been forced out of his scheduled main event bout with former title challenger Glover Teixeira.

No word yet if a replacement opponent will be sought for Teixeira to keep him on the card in Berlin.

UFC officials did not give any additional information regarding Gustafsson’s injury.

A strawweight title fight featuring current champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk (9-0 MMA) taking on challenger Jessica Penne (12-2 MMA) will now headline the card.

Jedrzejczyk will make her first title defense since defeating inaugural strawweight champion Carla Esparza via second-round TKO at March’s UFC 185 event in Dallas. The 27-year-old Polish fighter has gone a perfect 9-0 in her young MMA career, which includes 4 stoppage wins to her credit.

Meanwhile, Jessica Penne was most recently seen in action at December’s TUF 20 Finale event, where she scored a hard-fought split-decision win over Randa Markos. Prior to her victory over Markos, Penne suffered a decision loss to Carla Esparza in the semifinal of Season 20 of “The Ultimate Fighter”.

UFC Fight Night 69 takes place June 20 live from the O2 World Berlin in Germany’s capital city. The entire event streams on UFC Fight Pass.
