Injured Aldo “Heartbroken and Crying” Over Possible Fight Cancellation
Things are not looking good for the UFC featherweight champion, Jose Aldo.
News broke yesterday of a reported injury to his rib, an injury that could keep him out of next months UFC 189 fight with Conor McGregor. Everything after that was pretty silent. We didn’t hear anything from Aldo or the UFC or McGregor. Well, a day later we still don’t have much. McGregor did talk, sort of and Dana White told us all to relax and now Aldo’s coach Andre Pederneiras has talked about the situation and confirmed that yes, he is injured.
But, they are still holding out hope that he will be able to fight. Aldo has to go through another screening to check his rib, then the doctors will determine if he can fight.
Here’s what Pederneiras told Combate:
“He cried. He wants this fight bad, everybody invested a lot in this. I was with him the whole afternoon. He’s heartbroken. He wants to fight anyway. Now we have to wait for the exam results. Aldo is in deep pain. If the fracture is really confirmed, Aldo will have to stop training, do nothing for three or four weeks until it’s fixed, and then he would be able to do any exercise without forcing his rib. And then he would need a normal time to do a training camp: three months. I believe this fight wouldn’t happen before October.”
