Invicta FC President: Rousey vs. Cyborg Closer Than Ever
With Cris Cyborg’s 46 second TKO win over Charmaine Tweet at Invicta FC 11 this past Friday, and Ronda Rousey’s 14 second armlock win over Cat Zingano at UFC 184 on Saturday, the talk of a potential Rousey vs. Cyborg super-fight is more prevalent than ever.
Interestingly enough, prior to both fighters winning their respective bouts Invicta FC President Shannon Knapp spoke about the possibility of the bout happening, with great optimism.
“I can’t really say that it will happen this year. But what I can tell you is the fans should not give up, because this fight is closer than it has ever been — ever. If it’s gonna happen, I think we’re gonna see it happen possibly by the end of this year or first quarter of next.”
UFC President Dana White stated at the post-fight press conference for UFC 184, that Rousey does in fact want to fight Cyborg, if she can make the bantamweight limit of 135 pounds.
