UFC lightweight ‘Irish’ Joe Duffy will take on the dangerous Dustin Poirier at UFC Fight Night: Dublin, which takes place next Saturday.

They will headline the event, which will stream on UFC Fight Pass. Of course everyone knows Duffy as the last man to beat Conor McGregor, but so far he’s shown that he’s much more than that and will look to do so once again by taking out Poirier, who’s had a resurgence since moving back up to 155.

In the clip above we get to hear from Duffy who talks about headlining a card in his home country and proving to everyone that he’s one of the best fighters in the world.

“I’ve been fighting my whole life. Getting the opportunity to headline in Dublin is going to be pretty special. I believe I’m one of the best in the world and my job is to show all the fans that that’s what I am.”

Do you guys think he gets it done against Poirier?

Duffy only has one loss on his 15 fight record and is currently on a four fight win streak, while Poirier is on a two fight win streak since switching weight classes.

The two lightweights are striking based fighters, which is likely why they got the headlining gig in Dublin, the match up equals fireworks! Duffy’s pedigree is that of a traditional boxer, having left MMA momentarily to pursue the sweet science. Ironically though, it was his submission skills that bested Conor McGregor back in 2010.

The UFC is already setting up the rematch, passively, between McGregor and his fellow Irishman, which is we all refer to “Irish” Joe as the last man to beat Conor McGregor.

But will he be able to repeat history? Is Conor McGregor just the first Irish standout to hit the main stage, or is he truly the best?
