‘It’s Not Long Before Cormier Becomes A Full Blown Diva’
Ryan Bader has done a fantastic job at making a name for himself in recent weeks after Daniel Cormier’s victory at UFC 187. Cormier walked out of the octagon as the new UFC Light Heavyweight Champion and Bader confronted an emotional D.C. at the post-fight presser to get the fire for a feud going.
Bader added some gasoline to the fire on Monday when he sat down with Submission Radio.
“[Cormier] drops down to 205 pounds, and then he fights Patrick Cummins and Dan Henderson, and then gets a title shot,” said Bader. “He gets his butt whooped, and then gets gifted another title shot, and then finally wins the belt. You know, that’s pretty much the easiest path that I’ve ever heard or ever seen anybody getting that belt, the UFC belt. …I know I can beat him.”
Young champions need to choose their paths carefully. Jon “Bones” Jones was led down a darker path than most, and he is on the road to recovery. However, Bader is worried that Cormier is making his way down a different path.
“I just don’t want to see Cormier or any other fighters start taking that Diva route. And so like you saw right when he came to the press conference, he goes ‘address me as champ.’ And you know he could be kind of joking around here and there, but you know I’ve been around him, and I can just see it just piling on, piling on, and pretty soon he’s going to be a full blown diva.”
Is Daniel Cormier becoming a diva or is Ryan Bader just poking the bear? Will Cormier’s first championship defense be against Bader? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
