Jake Shields vs. Hector Lombard Signed for UFC 171
UFC welterweights Jake Shields and Hector Lombard are set to meet in the octagon at UFC 171 on March 15th, ESPN confirms.
Jake Shields has been on an impressive run while in the UFC not having lost a fight since 2011. After winning a split decision against Tyron Woodley, Shields went on to pick up another victory by way of split decision against Demian Maia. Shields is currently ranked sixth in the UFC’s welterweight rankings and a win over Lombard could boost him up a spot in the stacked division.
Hector Lombard is as dangerous as he has ever been, right now. He made his UFC welterweight debut at UFC 166 and knocked veteran Nate Marquardt out in devastating fashion. The first round stoppage turned a lot of heads and Shields will be his next test.
Lombard could make his debut in the welterweight rankings with a victory at UFC 171 considering #10 Nick Diaz has been inactive and #9 Matt Brown just suffered an injury.
