Jon Jones: Gustafsson and I are completely different

By Chris Taylor - September 12, 2013

Many comparisons have been made between UFC light heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones (18-1 MMA, 12-1 UFC) and his UFC 165 opponenet Alexander Gustafsson (14-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC).

However, “Bones” does not seem to agree with the comparisons, as he stated during Tuesday’s UFC 165 conference call:

“I don’t really agree with any of the comparisons,” said Jones “I think the only thing me and Gustafsson have in common is that we’re both 26 years-old and the fact that we’re both over 6-foot-4 tall. Outside of that, we are completely different fighters. I’ve been able to study him a lot over the last several months, and I realized there’s absolutely nothing he does that’s like me. We’re just completely different. We have the same height and age, and that’s absolutely it.”

Jon Jones will put his UFC light heavyweight title on the line against Alexander “The Mauler” Gustafsson on Saturday, September 21, live from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
