Jones: ‘I Hope UFC Gives CM Punk A Real Opponent So He Can Get Knocked Out’
The UFC has caught criticism since announcing the signing of CM Punk. With some saying the signing is good for business, while others say Punk, real name Phil Brooks, doesn’t deserve a free pass to the UFC.
Jon Jones is the most recent fighter to speak out against the signing, saying:
“At the same time it would be a bad thing only because every day I’m at the gym watching these kids training. These guys have no money and they’re training their tails off, giving up everything to be a fighter. Living in the gym, eating turkey and peanut butter, bare minimum to chase this dream and then a superstar like him just gets to jump into the UFC just because he knows the right people and has a name. I just think it’s unfair for the people who have been working their tails off to earn this opportunity. That’s why I really hope UFC gives him a real opponent so we can watch him get knocked out.”
The ‘feud’, for lack of a better term, was started by Punk back in 2012 after Jones signed an endorsement deal with Nike just several months after being arrested for a DUI. However, there had been no comments from Jones until now. The Tweet sent by Punk from 2012 read:
“Let’s reward more drunk drivers with endorsement deals! #responsibility,”
